Hello everyone



I apologise for writing in English, but I have difficulties in writing German, even though I can read it somewhat well.

I have just weathered two of Fleischmanns Magic Train open cars and written about the process on my blog, O Scale Model, here:

Do you have any ideas for improving the look of the somewhat simple cars further?

Hallo Occam,

absolutely great.
Think the job has been well done and the car looks
really realistic all over.
You're right about the couplings and would prefer
prototipical instead of Kadee, although I know what it means.

Let's see what happens to the loco.
That will be a little bit more difficult.

Prototypical couplers would be great, but I don't know if they even exist in 0e. Do you know of someone who makes that?

I am really looking forward to working on the locomotive, but I plan to try to install a decoder inside before I start detailing and weathering it.

Well done, nice work.

It is difficult to find much information about the prototype for the models,

The Fleischmann Gondola is a mixture of austrian prototypes, the Roco H0e is a german "Lenz"-Type.
Fleischmann uses the "RBD Dresden" lettering for commercial reasons.
Austrian vans were lettered 1938-45 that way, but here we had the RBD's (Reichsbahndirektionen) Augsburg, Linz, Wien and Villach.
Different to the standard gauge freight vans (there the City-names marked the type of van) narrow vehicles were lettered with the name of their home-"Direktion".

Not cheap, but highly detailed. For a diorama you can even use chains on every side of the traverser for coupling.
